Sandra
Second-generation herbalist · B.S. and M.S., Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, South Baylo University
“To my father, healing was personal and honest work, rooted in service to his community.”
In the mid-1980s her father opened Merit Herbal Shop, a storefront of nearly 300 square feet in Oakland Chinatown. He checked pulses, examined tongues and prepared remedies by hand. Sandra grew up translating for his patients after school, and today she carries the tradition forward, one person at a time.
How it’s made
Herbs, stone and honey
The herbs are ground to a powder and bound with local honey. Nothing is added to make it keep, and nothing is added to make it sweet.

Our honey
One local beekeeper
The honey comes from one local beekeeper working on his own. Single source, so we know exactly what is in it. Buying it keeps a small operation going and keeps bees on land that is being built over.
Northern California lost a great many hives to the fires.
